Affiliate Marketing Services – The role of Intermediaries

With a lot of intermediaries being involved, the essence of affiliate marketing will be lost and would directly affect the sales.

Affiliate marketing networks and agencies have extended their services to publishers and all web experts who are familiar with the concepts of online trade and commerce. Merchants also have started to make programs that are flexible and can be taken up by different agencies and professionals. The focus of such programs is to enable anyone anywhere be engaged in selling and promoting on the behalf of the provider.

I have even found affiliate redeveloping the programs and earning regular commissions from the efforts and resources of the affiliate who join these programs. Whenever we go for a program and start advertising the products of the merchant we seldom ask as who is the manufacturer or the producer. The publisher who advertises and sells may be doing a tough job selling the products and his merchant may be an affiliate like him, doing nothing and getting paid.

In affiliate marketing industry, it is the networks or the agencies that play as the intermediaries. The networks get commissions, but then they provide a number of essential services that makes the job much easier. It is not a good idea to encourage any intermediary, other than the networks and agencies.

The reason why affiliate marketing has worked out for some publishers is because it eliminates the intermediaries. It is because of the manufacturer reaching directly to the customer that the cost reduction happens. Intermediaries like wholesale distributors increases the price and the final price has to be paid by the consumers. By selling them at lower prices on the Internet, the customers are encouraged and intermediaries discouraged. If there are too many intermediaries like super affiliates, affiliates and then sub affiliates, the incentives would be all lost by the consumers and that could affect the sales.

Affiliate Marketing and UGC

User generated content has been endorsed by many in the online and off line marketing and advertising modes. Can this content find any place in affiliate marketing?

In the Internet world, UGC (user generated content) has received much of the attention. Web site owners and many online business to business platforms have developed their programs for the same. It is believed that user generated content appears to be more pleasing and credible to the audiences than that created by the developers themselves.

Now, that sure can be a little nuisance for our cherished affiliate marketers. Affiliate marketing agencies have been hiring trained professionals who are adept with creative writing and amusing the customers. With the attention being shifted to the audiences, the agencies might have some other requirements for the writing and content generation departments.

As web site and services in large volumes are still being launched and hosted the demand for professional writers is likely to get disturbed, but not in a big way. Many affiliates or web site owners that sell products on their web sites have hired people to write reviews and content that would reveal the customer response. These reviews or personal endorsements are considered to be helpful in convincing the customers and for increasing the rate of conversion once the visitor is exposed to the promotional content.

The advertisers or the people in the league can go a step further and host dynamic web sites, which could be modified and altered by anyone. Much like open resources, these web site can feature commercial entities, giving the customers the exact details and descriptions as felt by the audiences. How successful such ventures can be, we cannot say. One typical example is the generation of advertisements for a popular brand. The same was put into practice very recently and the results were satisfactory.

It will interesting to see whether the content generated by the users will amuse the audience for long or not.

Say Yes to Affiliate Marketing Services

Before joining a network or avail affiliate marketing services, web site owners should know about online advertising and paid promotions.

As affiliate marketing happens to be a new concept, site owners take two or three chances in the beginning to learn the tricks of the trade. That is indeed helpful. Instead of waiting to find some resource or help from some source, it is better to try for some free affiliate programs and give it a try.

For web site owners, affiliate networks usually provide affiliate marketing services. There are free services including free registration, no set up cost and free maintenance of accounts. There may be some overriding charges, but they do not matter as you are still in the learning phase.

Further, I would say that before joining a network or avail affiliate marketing services, web site owners should know about online advertising and paid promotions. The concepts should be clear and so should be the terms and conditions.

First, you must know about popular advertising programs like AdWords and AdSense. These programs or services helps you understand how advertising on web takes place, different tools and information about accounts and money transfer.

Second, you must have enough knowledge about tracking systems and tools used for such services. Usually the service providers gives a unique code which has to be provided with the link or any contextual advertisement that you are to place on your web site.

Lastly, I would suggest to obtain information on products and programs that sell in the markets. Some products provided by the merchants invite the attention, whereas the others are least observed by the users and online visitors.

Once you have all this information and knowledge, you would be doing fine.
